Welcome back! When we last left off this tour, I showed you around the first floor (in this post) as it looked on the day we moved in - cloudy day dark photos and all! Here we'll pick up where we left off, at the stairway to the second floor.
But first, a drawing of the second floor layout:
There's a generous sized center hallway, and four bedrooms, and another sunroom off the right side.
Up the stairs we go, and at the top of the stairs, we'll turn immediate right into the first bedroom. This bedroom has one window overlooking the back yard.
There's a glass paneled door leading to the second floor sunroom...
And two closet doors. The closet door on the left is actually a pass-through closet that also goes into the Master Bedroom. The closet door on the right is a small closet for this bedroom.
Here's another shot of the window wall.
Exiting the bedroom into the second floor Sunroom though this door...
... you step out into another favorite room, with windows on three sides. This one is up in the canopy of mature trees. In the summer it gets a little warm in here but in the winter it's perfectly bright and sunny and cheer - best room ever!
On the front side of the inside wall, there's a door leading to the Master Bedroom.
A quick look at the Master Bedroom... in this view you're seeing the door to the hallway, and to the left of that, the door to the Master Bath, and to the right of that, one of the two closets in this room. This room has a nice antique mirror still affixed to the closet door.
The left closet is for this room, and the right one is the other side of the pass through from the first bedroom.
The wall that is up against the Sunroom... amazingly there's enough room on this wall for our large king sized bed and one side table!
The Master Bath was expanded and remodeled in 2010... they bumped into the bedroom across the hall to make space for the shower and toilet.
A reproduction claw-foot tub looks great.
Nice sized glass shower stall with marble tile.
When the previous owners remodeled the bathroom, they closed off the door to the hallway, and put the vanity sink in that spot. This bathroom now only serves the Master Bedroom. The other three bedrooms on this floor have no bathroom to use, they have to go upstairs to the third floor.
Across the hall from the Master Bedroom, there's a third bedroom. Here' what it looks like entering from the hallway...
and once you are inside the room a little further. These two windows are on the north side of the house.
Here's the west front side of the house, with one window overlooking the front yard.
Looking back toward the entry to the room, you find another closet with an antique mirror on it. This closet is fairly generously sized, about 4' across.
Here you can see where the Master Bathroom was bumped into the bedroom to make room for the shower and toilet.
Let's exit this bedroom and head down the hall toward the back of the house now...
The huge window AC unit in the hallway landing does a great job at cooling off the second floor, and surprisingly, the first floor too! The cold air shoots down the stairs into the first floor foyer and keeps the house comfortable in hot weather.
At the back left of the house, turn into the fourth bedroom. This shot shows the two windows overlooking the north side yard, and one window on the right overlooking the back yard.
Another nice sized closet with another antique mirror on the door.
And a big blank wall with the hallway on the other side.
So that completes the second floor. Join me very soon for more photos showing the third floor and the basement. Hope to see you again soon! Please leave a comment to say hello!
